Hi. I’m Chris Nelson and I founded NHI in 2005, leaving a successful career working in the management of a large charity that looked out for the rights of people and worked with Government to ensure citizens were treated fairly and legally. The charity was the Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureaux. NHI started life as ‘Nelson Home Inspections’, offering Energy Performance Certificates and Home Information Packs to people selling or renting their properties, working closely with Estate Agents and Letting Agents in Warwickshire and the West Midlands. It became more and more apparent as time went on that both property buyers and sellers found the whole process time consuming and stressful, and despite the best efforts of some excellent Estate Agents, nothing seemed to help.Chris-photo-small

It was while working with a national lifesaving charity that a colleague, faced with repossession of her home, commented that the choice she had was no choice at all. She could either let her home be repossessed and walk away with nothing, or could sell her home to one of the ‘buy your house for cash’ providers who would give her enough to pay off the mortgage company, but again, she would walk away with nothing. How could she afford to pay expensive rent on somewhere else when she couldn’t pay her mortgage

And so Nelson Home Inspections became Nelson Home Investments, committed to finding a better way for people to utilise the money tied up in their house and keep their home. As far as we know, there is no-one else willing or able to do this – the closest we have found are investors who offer ‘sale and rent back‘ schemes where they will buy your home and enable to you stay in it as a paying tenant. But why would you want to pay more in rent than you did in mortgage payments?

On many occasions we have been asked how we can offer the services we do and keep going, as we are unique in what we are able to give back to our clients. Most investors offering to buy your house are looking for, and make, a 25% to 30% profit on every property they buy. We made the decision to significantly reduce this figure and use the leeway to provide our market-leading and unique service, with the emphasis on helping our clients, not ourselves.

We are based, and primarily operate in the Nuneaton area of Warwickshire, and I have lived in the area for 8 years. Unlike other investment solutions, we are not part of a franchise or affiliated with larger groups, and so you can be assured that when you deal with NHI, you will be dealing directly and solely with me.
